How To Make Prawn Malai Curry
Prawn Malai Curry Recipe
Prawns are widely available in Bangladesh, and prawn malai curry is a delicious creamy curry made with coconut milk, onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies. The prawns are cooked in the gravy with spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric.

500g large prawns, peeled and deveined
1 cup coconut milk
1 onion, chopped
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 green chillies, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons oil
1 bay leaf
2 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped

In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the bay leaf, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the chopped onion and green chillies to the pan and sauté until the onions are translucent.
Add the ginger and garlic paste and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder to the pan and stir well to combine.
Add the prawns to the pan and stir well to coat them with the spice mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the prawns turn pink.
Pour in the coconut milk, add salt to taste and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Add the sugar and chopped coriander leaves to the pan and stir well. Cook for another minute before turning off the heat.
Serve the Prawn Malai Curry hot with steamed rice or Indian bread like naan or roti.
